Equifax B2B Redesign: Building a Scalable Solution

Problem Statement
Equifax’s B2B clients depended on legacy tools built in Spotfire to visualize complex datasets. While functional, these solutions were static, hard to customize, and not responsive on modern devices. Developers were forced to hand-code updates, which slowed delivery and limited scalability.

The challenge: How might we modernize Equifax’s B2B platform so it is responsive, efficient, and adaptable—while empowering developers to deliver client-ready solutions faster?

My Role
As Senior Lead UX Designer, I was responsible for creating a scalable design system that balanced developer efficiency with user experience. I collaborated closely with product managers, developers, and leadership to ensure alignment across business and client needs.

UX Design Process

1. Research & Discovery

  • Audited existing Spotfire-based tools to identify pain points and limitations.
  • Met with developers and stakeholders to understand technical constraints and business requirements.
  • Analyzed competitor B2B platforms to benchmark responsiveness and adaptability.

2. Define

Established core goals:

  • Make the platform responsive across devices.
  • Provide modular, reusable components to reduce developer effort.
  • Future-proof the system for scalability and cross-property use.

    3. Ideation & Design

  • Applied atomic design principles to break down interfaces into reusable components (atoms, molecules, organisms).
  • Created a sandbox environment where developers could rapidly test and implement UI patterns.
  • Designed responsive layouts in Figma, ensuring flexibility across screen sizes.

    4. Prototyping & Testing

  • Built interactive prototypes to demonstrate component behavior and responsiveness.
  • Partnered with developers to validate ease of implementation.
  • Iterated on feedback from internal teams to fine-tune usability and scalability.

    5. Implementation & Collaboration

  • Delivered a modular design system integrated with existing workflows.
  • Partnered with leadership to extend these design patterns across additional Equifax properties, influencing broader redesign initiatives.
